HARVESTING AND BIODIVERSITY
The harvesting of the cork oak is a delicate and essential task for the preservation of dehesa (a type of Mediterranean agroforestry system) and forests. This procedure follows a number of rules within a biodiversity protection policy, while ensuring that trees remain healthy in order to obtain superior quality cork.
After the cork harvesting stage, cork goes through different processes until it becomes the end product. Regarding the cork industry, the stopper is developed according to the type of bottling for which it is designed, respecting different processing stages of the natural material.
THE "SUSTAINABLE LIGHTNESS" OF CORK RECYCLING!
During the production of natural cork stoppers, its waste is processed into granules and transformed into agglomerated cork, later reused in the production of technical cork stoppers or utilised in the creation of other products.
It all depends on foresight, the purpose for which it will be used and the creativity of the business. Cork is a recyclable and reusable material with excellent properties and can be used in product development in different sectors: construction, clothing, footwear, design, decoration and the aerospace industry.
